Imagine a life where you never have to wipe your glasses from fogging up, ever again. (You may say I’m a dreamer, but I’m not the only one…” – John Lennon)
Approximately 75% of adults use some sort of vision correction (glasses), according to the Vision Council of America. Given that statistic, you can rest easy knowing you aren’t alone when it comes to frustration with fogged up lenses.
Whether foggy lenses are due to body heat, sweating or cold weather, we are all in search of a solution to this problem. Below, we’ve compiled a list of 10 tips on how to keep glasses from fogging.
Tip #1 – Use a bit of shaving cream
This is a tried and true technique for clear lenses. Believe it or not, massaging a bit of shaving cream over lenses can make for quite the defogger.
Tip #2 – Choose glasses that sit far from your face
By selecting a pair of glasses which sit further away from the face, an increase in air circulation between your glasses and face will help keep glasses from fogging.
Tip #3 – Use anti fog wipes or spray
This ones a give-in. The use of anti fog wipes or spray will help clear the lenses to any pair of glasses. These wipes are especially helpful during those cold winter months. That said, this is not a long term solution.
Tip #4 – Use a bar of soap
At first, this idea may sound crazy. However, this method to keeping glasses fog-free is actually quite practical. Scrape off a small chunk of solid soap and gently wipe over both lenses. Let this sit for a bit before taking a clean cloth to buff the soap off. Similar to the shaving cream method, this will help to create a transparent layer of protection on your lenses.
Tip #5 – Make your glasses water repellent
Go ahead and pick up a bottle of rain repellent from your local outdoor shop. Spray and buff your spectacle lenses for a super easy-to-apply layer of protection.
Tip #6 – Consider contact lenses
Although this option is not for everyone, the use of contact lenses will prevent fogging altogether. Contact lenses are especially useful in the winter time, as this is when glasses fog the most.
Tip #7 – Buy anti fog glasses for sports
Many sports require the use of some form of glasses or goggles. Nothing ends the fun of playing sports more than fogged up glasses. That said, taking part in any activity with fogged up glasses can be extremely dangerous. It may be worth your money to invest in soome winter glasses or goggles.
Tip #8 – Clean lenses with your saliva
If worse comes to worst, you can always use your saliva to gently clean the surface of your glasses. However, this method may be harmful to some types of lenses. Tread lightly with this one.
Tip #9 – Make a vinegar solution
It seems there is always a homemade solution to every problem. In this case, you will most likely have all the needed ingredients at home already. In an empty spray bottle, combine 1 part distilled vinegar with 1 part tap water. Mist the mixture over glass lenses and wipe with a soft cloth.
Tip #10 – Get LASIK vision correction in Utah
Again, this option is not for everyone. With that taken into account, LASIK vision correction in Utah is easier, and better, than you could have ever imagined. Perfect vision is the goal, after all.
